patagonia

I’ve been wanting to go to Patagonia for years now. When I studied in Chile I tried to go but it was winter and I couldn’t get south of Santiago it was so cold. I had a long break from school a few weeks ago and a billion skymiles to use and was lucky enough to go for a couple weeks. It was unbelievable.

gheralta ethiopia (aka zion national park, with billion year-old churches)

Jessica came to visit from Nairobi so we went to Gheralta for the weekend in the Tigray Region.

I loved it.

I kept yelling about how everything looks like Utah and I kept making sure everyone knew it. Except Utah needs some churches from the 4th century carved into solid stone complete with perfectly preserved murals.

simiens

We went to the Simien Mountains. I was excited but I don’t think I was properly prepared for how beautiful it was going to be. I was trying to narrow down what pictures I should upload and… I failed.

back in ethiopia

I’ve become Ethiopia’s biggest cheerleader over the last few years. I was lucky enough to get an internship with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Addis Ababa. I figured now it’s about time I should start posting the rest of the pictures from my trip to Ethiopia last year. Here are some more from the Debre Damo Monastery (my Shangri-La) between Axum and Adigrat:

cairo

When you book a trip using skymiles sometimes you get obscene layovers. I was lucky enough to get an incredibly long layover in Cairo. I had two and a half days to find as many trinkets as possible.
